This corner will be for updates on our father, brother and dear son and will include any needs, as well as the more positive moments we can find and hopefully dwell on. At this time Dad is permanently staying at the Salem facility (Detroit Lake exit off I-5). He has grown a beard and bears a striking resemblance to Abraham Lincoln (some one get that man a stove pipe :)
He is well thought of there and many of the other residents have great respect for and rely on him as a confidant and friend.
In fact one of the many positive moments that has occurred included an incident in the recreation room. Dad was sitting on the bleachers surrounded by a group of 4-5 younger men. As this group got up to leave another group had been waiting in the wings to take their place. As this next group left a third set took their place . This went on with Dad being aware of any of this until one man left and another took his place. The man who left returned and demanded his place back and the current occupant stated that "He would have to wait his turn to talk to Archie". Dad then realized that there were yet others in the wings so to speak still waiting their turn!
He has landed the job of electrician and is actually way more advanced in his trade than the man who is his boss and simply works for the facility. His boss has indicated that they will help him maintain his licensing and maybe even advance to a supervisor level in his field as well. High five Dad!
We leave this corner letting him know of our deep love and support for him and ask him to stick in there and keep his chin up!
